Haiku

Haiku is the ancient form of poetry that comes from Japan. These poems have only three lines in which to express their imagery.  They form a pattern of five beats, followed by seven, and concluding again with five beats.  They usually express something beautiful and profound, especially about nature. Haiku always implore you to stop and think for a moment or two.  I have selected photographs to enhance each Haiku.  In many instances, the Haiku suggested the photograph and at other times, the photograph drew forth the Haiku from within my soul. And then sometimes, it was a happy marriage of two disparate entities. They are miniature meditations and an expression of my love for God and Nature.

​Photo Impressionism
Photos and Haiku based on  Impressionist painting, which is a 19th-century art movement that originated with a group of Paris-based artists.  Their independent exhibitions brought them to prominence during the 1870's and 1880's. Their art was a break from traditional European painting, as the Impressionists incorporated new scientific research into the physics of color, capturing the shifting effect of light and color. They studied the effects of light upon their subjects.
